How to travel from Hoi An to Hue or transport from Hue to Hoi An is become a most popular question from most travelers who have been traveling in Central Coast Vietnam.

Hoi An to Hue is 135km – 3.5 hours this information will be shown on Google Map but in fact it will take 5 hours or 5,5 hours for driving from Hoi An to Hue included time for stopping at highlights on the way . There are three passes on the way transportation:Hai Van Pass, Phuoc Tuong Pass and Phu Gia Pass. Hai Van is the highest pass in three of them and brings you a spectacular picture for you taking photos.

Beside these passes, we stopped at Marble Mountains not Marble Shops for shopping because we are not a kind of shopaholic. Trekking up the mountains steps, we visit Linh Ung Pagoda with burning incense stick and learn about Vietnamese Buddhism. Going up more we stopped at Linh Ung Tower – near elevator for a panorama view of Marble Mountains. We spent last visit at Tang Chon Cave to see Hinduism of Cham altar and Buddhism Statue next door.

Marble Mountains includes five mountains surroundings. It’s a symbol of Five Elements in life: God of Metal, God of Wooden, God of Water, God of Fire and God of Soil. We couldn’t spend couple hours to see all of them but one of them was ok for us.

Next, we stopped at Hai Van Pass. Hai means the Sea, Van means the Cloud. The pass where the mountain always meets the Sea and the Cloud so travelers often ask for stop at Cloudy Pass (Local name is Hai Van – the border between Hue city and Danang city). Hai Van Mountain Pass is 1,172m height (3,845f) from level sea.

From the peak of Hai Van Mountain Pass, we took photo down to Danang city, Lang Co Bay, Lang Co Beach. We suggest you start in the afternoon (2:00pm) from Hoi An after time of check out hotel then arrive at the summit on Sunset time. It’s a great time for taking photos and not much tourists.

Driving down to the pass our driver stopped for us again at the foot of the pass to take the stunning view of Lang Co Bay with Lap An Lagoon near by. It’s wonderful.

From here you can spend time for relax and swimming at Elephant Spring – It’s a natural spring attract most Vietnamese people in Summer Time not much tourist know for it. We had read about it but didn’t have enough time to see it. What’s a pity but it’s ok.

We ask for last top at Lang Co Beach for a short break of drinking coffee and enjoy the fresh air before transport to our hotel in Hue city. Our trip ended at our hotel around 7:00pm with a lot of fun. We had great photos with nice driver who could speak basically English from Hue Photo Tours. Thank you so much again for your organization Mr Thomson. We definitely recommend your service to our friends who come to your city.
